The Awesome USA is a perfect soldering project for any level solder skill. The outline of the states is done with resistors not part of the circuit for practice and mastering through hole soldering. There are practice pads for surface mount (SMT) soldering. Then the SMT resistors, diodes, capacitor and potentiometer are installed. The 555 timer circuit is tested and the 4017 IC installed. Lastly, the pcb (printed circuit board) is 8 x10 inches and fits perfectly in a standard picture frame!
