- Like the Super Awesome Cube, think of the "Original Awesome Cube" as an electronics AND programming project. The "Original Awesome Cube" was designed with one color LEDs and nine through hole resistors instead of the SMT resistors. So there is a cost savings and no SMT soldering, but each kit comes with 50 LEDs of either red, orange, gold, green, blue or violet LEDs.
- Yes, high school students can definitely learn to write code to a microcontroller! But even better, the students begin to actually "think" like programmers, not just cutting and pasting code. (See our programming page).
- This is also a great "electronics" kit. Students solder resistors, transistors, a voltage regulator, LEDs, IC holder, and a capacitor They have to measure, cut and strip dozens of wires then solder correctly following instructions carefully. The manual has instructor checkpoints along the way.
